Hands-on Workshop using Gmail and Google, ​Thursday May 9th and 16th from 12 pm - 2 pm



When:  ​Thursday May 9th and May 16th from 12 pm - 2 pm

Where: Anvil House, Level 1, Room 1 ​1​

What: The purpose of the hands-on workshop is to set up an email account using free Google webmail (Gmail) and exploring Google tools

The only prerequisites are:


  • a basic knowledge of how to use a mouse or touch pad
  • access to a computer with a broadband connection.


The course covers two days and the cost is $20 payable on the first day.

Session 1 – setting up a Gmail account - and exploring the various extras that Gmail offers​.​
Session 2 – ​exploring the google toolbar, setting up a calendar and saving to Google Drive.

What: SeniorNet Wellington does workshops on e.g. Google Search, Google Earth and Google Maps.

This workshop will give an overview of some of those free Google  tools and show you where to find other Google tools that may be of interest. 

It will include a demonstration of how to use the free Google Drive for cloud storage.

The cost of the workshop is $5 payable at the door.

It is an opportunity to learn, to expand your knowledge and skills on Apple Mac by sharing the know-how of other members.

Digicam Special Learning Group, Wednesday 17 April, 10 am - 12 pm

What: Faststone Image Viewer has had further improvements with a "noise reduction" function. We will explore this new tool with some examples. As with all manipulations there are trade-offs.

If you haven't already, download Faststone v 4.8. This is the program we teach at SeniorNet under the Digital Camera umbrella. If you haven't used Faststone for a while, come along for a "brush-up".

Questions and answers will be covered, plus we need you to bring along some images for all to enjoy. Don't be shy!

What : The general success of earlier Q & A meeting suggests that this is a useful format at the moment.

Facilitators: Lindsay Rollo and Graeme Munro

However, to focus the subject for discussion, the question will be asked:

What is it I need to know to make effective use of my device ?

How should I organise the icons on difference desktop pages.?

If time permits, there will be a demonstration of how to put shortcuts and widgets on the desktop.

Don't be shy. These sessions are specifically designed to help the beginner

If you don’t come and ask your questions, no one can help you get the most out of your phone or tablet.
