Proposals to update the rules of SeniorNet Wellington Inc

The Executive has approved proposals to update the rules of SeniorNet Wellington. The proposed rules are set out in the right column of the table posted on this website with proposed changes or additions printed in blue. For comparison the table also shows the existing rules in the left column with proposed deletions printed in red.

The proposals provide for a number of clauses to be clarified or updated and these include an updated provision for audit or review of accounts, an option to electronically communicate with members, provisions to include the Charities Commission (to retain our charitable status) if future changes are contemplated, a change from honorary membership to life membership and removal of the 55 year entry age with a consequent definition of ‘older adult’.

At some later stage notice will be given to members for the proposals to be considered at a General Meeting of members and if adopted the proposed rules will be submitted to the Registrar of Societies for registration. In the meantime members are invited to take the opportunity to read and provide any comment if they so wish to

Bus Stop & Bus Route Changes near Anvil House from 26 September

The work on the overhead network will also mean some changes for bus users and a new temporary route.

Plans are in progress to remove the bus stop in lower Cuba Street:
  • From 7.00pm on Sunday 26 September, the buses will no longer stop in lower Cuba Street.
  • As an interim measure, from 7.00pm 26 September to 6.00am 27 September, the closest bus stop to James Smith Corner will be the bus stop outside Reading Cinemas in Courtenay Place.
  • From 6.00am Sunday 27 September, the replacement bus stop will be in Wakefield Street, near the Michael Fowler Centre car park.
The temporary bus route will be along Wakefield Street, right into Taranaki Street, then either left into Courtenay Place or straightahead - depending on the usual bus route.
This temporary bus route will be in place until the end of November when the new two-way bus route through the central city is expected to become operational.
