Options to change the SuperGold Card free off-peak public transport travel scheme

Wellington City Council (WCC) have been asked to answer some consultation questions regarding options to change the SuperGold Card free off-peak public transport travel scheme. They have been told: "The New Zealand Transport Agency has recently released the attached consultation document for public comment.  This document outlines options to change the SuperGold Card free off-peak public transport travel scheme.

The government appears to still be committed to the scheme.  However, it is also concerned about the long-term sustainability of the existing funding mechanisms to support it.  The status quo is, apparently, "not an option for the future of the scheme".

WCC will write a community response for Wellington using your responses combined, which will contribute to an influential local government perspective.

Please look at the attached documents (consultation and survey ), and write any feedback to the sender directly (using the questions as a guide). WCC will need to receive your feedback by next  Friday 9th April to be able to include it in our Wellington community response.

Yiou are encouraged, you or your organisation, to give feedback on the consultation document - all documents and background can be found here.

When: Tuesday 30 March 2010 from 10.00 am to 12.00 pm

Where:  Anvil House, Level 1, Meeting Room 2,   138-140 Wakefield Street, Wellington.

Why:  There are many options for choosing a personal computer.  We will traverse:

What is you real requirement?
Seemingly attractive purchasing offers are often made.  Do these have regard to what your needs and requirements are, or might become.

What are you getting?
Many advertising claims may omit information, such as the need to subsequently purchase programs for which trial versions are initially supplied.

What:  We will briefly discuss the three methods of acquisition..
  • Obtain a pre-loved computer - some families love to pass on units
  • Buy something new
  • Put something together yourself [with assistance].
We will compare and contrast new computer specifications in a non-technical way; then compare desktop, laptop [notebook] and net-book computersand ways to assess value for money.

Robustness and reliability is important.  What are the prospects for support now and what is likely to be the availability of replacement parts in the years to come?

If you know of someone who is a SeniorNet Member and who cannot register on-line, they can leave a registration message at the SeniorNet Office.
