ITunes Workshop, Tuesday 4 August 10 am to 12 noon

When: Tuesday 4 August 10 am to 12 noon

Where: Anvil House, Level 1, Meeting Room 2
 
What: An opportunity to learn about the basic features of the Itunes program and how you can use it to enjoy your music on your PC.

We'll look at using ITunes Help, loading music from a CD, making a playlist for your stereo player or Ipod, discuss models of Ipods and show you how you can play your Ipod music on your car radio. There'll be time for questions and discussion.

Cost: $5 per head payable on the day.  Please bring your Ipod and its manual and register with John Nimmo, john.nimmo@xtra.co.nz

Introduction to Texting Workshop, Tuesday 28 July 2009 10 am –12 pm

When: Tuesday 28 July 2009, 10 am –12 pm

Where: Anvil House, Level 1, Meeting Room 2

What: Welcome to the world of text messaging – the convenient, cheap and easy way of keeping in touch with friends and family using your mobile phone. This workshop is designed as in introduction to text messaging.

Before enrolling please make sure that your mobile phone is suitable for text messages.

Cost: $5 payable at the door.

Tutors: John Nimmo and Derek Oldershaw

    * When registering please advise Derek of the make and model number of your mobile phone.
    * Models of Samsung and Nokia  preferred

How to install and use Skype, Tuesday 21 July 10.00 am to 12 pm

When: Tuesday 21 July 10.00 am to 12 pm

Where: Anvil House, Level 1, Meeting room 2

What: The workshop will look at the Skype program, which can be used to make calls (both voice and video) over the internet, for free.

We will demonstrate how to download the software, install it and get the program up and running, so that you can talk to family and friends, as well as see them if you have a web camera, will be demonstrated.

The cost of the workshop is $5 payable at the door.

What:  As usual, you are invited to bring along any questions you would like answered and we will try and resolve them for you. (Someone attending will quite likely to have experienced the same problem and be able to provide an answer!)

Trade Me Workshop, Tuesday 14 July 10 am - 12 pm

What: This will be the 6th of these popular workshops. Notes will be emailed to attendees.

If you came to one of the earlier workshops it would be worth while to "up-date," as Trade Me have made changes and announced on June 25 a "new look" coming.

We will peruse a preview of the "new look."

Bryan has run out of items to sell, but we will "register" a volunteer who wants to sell an item. Please let Bryan know when registering. He will phone you re the details you need to bring with you.

The coverage and exploring of the Trade Me site will be "live."

Workshop on Easy Cursor Changing, Thursday 16 July 2009 at 10.00 am - 12 00 pm

When: Thursday 16 July 2009 at 10.00 am - 12 00 pm

Where : Anvil House, Level 1, Room 11 (note)

What: It will teach you how to turn the usual “arrow” cursor, used in an email, into an animated object, e.g. a banana or a flower. It is a single 2 hour lesson, restricted to those who have completed the Email and Internet course, but does not require any advanced knowledge beyond normal word processing skills.

Places are limited so early registration is recommended. Notes will be provided.
